The University of Derby has total of 24,000 registered students, of whom approximately 9,000 are full-time Undergraduates. Currently 54% of students are mature (over 21). The university offers a wide range of joint and single honours degrees.

The University of Derby was the first in the UK to merge with a Further Education College and offers programmes throughout FE and HE. This programme will introduce you to the theories and methods of psychology providing a detailed knowledge of this fascinating subject. The course is recognised by the British Psychological Society and provides the graduate basis for registration as a chartered psychologist. In addition to eligibility for postgraduate training as a professional psychologist, you would also leave the course with good communication and IT skills and a sound understanding of behavioural research - a useful combination for a variety of subsequent careers.

The University of Derby BSc (Hons) Psychology is normally studied over three years, but this may be extended to suit your individual needs for up to a maximum of eight years.

Entry requirements:

  • A Level psychology is not compulsory but is recommended.

  • English ability equivalent to an IELTS score of 6.5, where the medium of undergraduate study was not English.

  • Applications by mature candidates are considered on an individual basis.
